The Capital Grille

Megan and I relish trying out the more ritzy places

on the Plaza here in Kansas City. Saturday evening we went for a drink and a small something at the Capital Grille on Jefferson Street. On entering the romantically dimly lit establishment, one is hit with the sensation of elegance. It was rather crowded however we were seated almost immediately. fancying something to drink, I selected the Sweet Basil Gin Rickey. It was a smooth blend of basil, gin and cane sugar. Whenever I went for a sip I was met with the perfume of the fresh basil leaf that was placed in the glass.

For our appetizer we had

Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella with Vine Ripe Tomatoes
Classic fresh mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto and lightly sautĂ©ed.
Served with crostini, fresh basil and a lovely balsamic glaze.

It was absolutely delectable. The creamy, melted mozzarella inside of the crispy prosciutto was a symphony of taste revelations to the tongue. Definitely a favorite of mine already.

I am greatly looking forward to my next visit to the Capital Grille and encourage those of you with a little extra cash to give it a try if you haven't already done so.
